ViSuAL: Video-Supported Active Learning
ViSuAL is a technique I developed in 1992. It won the Apple Partnership Award for Innovation in 1993. It was 20 years ahead of its time! ViSuAL integrates the best elements of video presentation with specific skill learning, and allows the user to interact fully with a video, using a series of chapters, scenes and paragraphs. The increased bandwidth of modern websites allows ViSuALs to be downloaded and combined.
At the heart of the ViSuAL framework are two independent systems:
• The Authoring System, which allows us to create ViSuALs from video and to add the necessary learning facilities
• The Delivery System, which downloads the ViSuAL for end-users to interact with.
Only the Delivery system products are shown on this website At present only example movies are being shown. The plug-ins necessary to run remotely are no longer supported. The page will be updated when the Livecode html facilities become available.
ViSuAL has applications everywhere. I have provided examples of three applications: work, University and early school
• A leadership training programme for experienced managers (SCRLP)
• A lecture course to help Psychology students improve their skills for thinking, writing and succeeding
• A 'ReadingLand' application where your photograph album comes to life.
